Updated size requirements for ambient video

Announcement

Ambient video size requirements have been updated with revised specifications for video resolution. If working with an external vendor, units should share these requirements to ensure files are delivered correctly.

In partnership with OIT, the OUC Web and Digital team recently transitioned ambient video hosting from Vimeo to Cloudflare. This transition provided a significant cost savings for the University while also creating a more standardized approach for hosting, managing, and permissioning ambient video across Drupal Cloud.

As part of this transition, the Ambient Video Guidelines have been updated to reflect the current requirements for delivery ambient files. Previously, video files were compressed as part of the hosting process. Ambient video files must now be provided in their final optimized format and delivered at the required resolution of 720p HD (1280 × 720 pixels).

Units are responsible for ensuring all submitted ambient videos meet the requirements outlined in the Ambient Video Guidelines, including the updated delivery specifications, and for sharing these requirements with any vendor involved in production or delivery.

Refer to the full guidelines for information on creating and submitting ambient video.
